Morley's Final Catalogue: Stowmarket about 1850 (B & C). Needs confirmation: cf. Trans. i, 32.

Recent Suffolk Status: Very rare wanderer or immigrant species. A single recent record at Felixstowe in 2018 (M. Marsh).

Life history: Single-brooded. In known habitats, can be found at rest in the daytime on rocks, stone walls and trees as well as coming to light.

Identification: Grey shoulder-knot has narrower wings and a black antler mark at the wing base.

Habitat: Mainly a moorland species in the UK.
